Woman

Remember how it felt, woman,
deciding your shit for yourself, woman -
just letting it all go to hell, woman,
and putting the car in drive?
The weight shaking loose off your back, woman,
and scales falling free from your eyes, woman.
You spit the gag out of your mouth, woman,
and kissed as much as you'd cried.
Remember, so when it gets hard, woman,
you don't forget who you are, woman.

Yes, we have to remember all we have survived and how strong it has made us. I totally remember the relief of getting that gag out of my mouth. Awesome write!

right up front and in your face (so to speak) - the two opening lines just pack that punch - this rallying piece - a testament to the strength, to keep it strong, to just keep on keeping on - because that's what we do!

great (amazonian) war/peace song/cry ...

The Rabble Rouser bows to you, Woman!

I love the repetition in this. It's a further call to the protagonist tp remember themselves and take stock in all the times they survived, especially during those moments they feel they can't take another step.

Remember what we survived when surviving seems to hard to live. Remember I am woman.
