No Small Thing

Sinking deep into your skin
          spread across
          the hard

wood floor
          brokenness
          lives here

     It is no small thing.

The clock tick tocks
     the click of bones
bloodless.

We swap air
     from lung     to lung
the two of us.

Done
     undone
         and done

It is no small thing.

For Paul's prompt at Real Toads

A moment like this... swapping air from lung to lung... sometimes the hard wood is as welcome as the best of beds.

Brilliant. Just brilliant. Brokenness lives here indeed.

sharing a difficult time and giving each other sustenance is what makes hard times survivable. I hope you are ok... this really grabs one

Very intimate poem. The way you've used line is refreshing and adds to the poem's effectiveness.
