Why Women Didn't Speak Up Decades Ago

because they were raised
to make peace
not waves
because they had little
real power
despite their new power suits
because they had bills
to pay and kids
to feed
because they just
wanted
to forget

For Brendan's prompt at Real Toads

I think we were on the same wave length for this prompt. Power and powerlessness. Women know both.

Such poignancy and truth in this, MZ.

Too busy keeping the wolf from the door to make waves, lol.........I was told all my childhood, go in your room and dont come out till you have a smile on your face....decades of obsequious smiling followed........

I can relate, though I am male. (the way thing used to be) Things are changing.

Always a knockout punch at the end -- as a dude, I only know what a terrifying wilderness the interior is between a man and a woman. Intimacy is a power no amount of clout can beat. Anyway, thanks for joining in the fray.

I also, should not hit "enter" so quickly, lol. I meant to say "make it", of course. :-)

I hope that something is better these days... I hope that men have changed (but I still wonder)
