The dead don't mind
if I sing off key
and seesaw their femurs to rollick along

to the beat
of a heart
bludgeoned and ceased,

but for the beauty
embalmed in my songs.

Bass clef cut -
my hands to start to treble
at all of the insides God's hidden away.
A score finally settled
and spread on my table.
A stillness, a movement,
a sheet to be played.

A little something for the Beautiful Freaks Fest

The thought of beauty embalmed in song brewed all sorts of giggles out of me. Deliciously freakish, and then some!

I'm an Alt-o too.

"seesaw their femurs" ... fabulous

Love this:
"to the beat
of a heart
bludgeoned and ceased,
but for the beauty
embalmed in my songs"

"A score finally settled
and spread on my table."

What delightfully macabre music these images make.

The first two lines just got me. What a great beginning to set up the rest of poem - and also my mood as I read. Thank you. enjoyed it.

Between the rhythm and the imagery, I was picturing Tim Burton's Land of the Dead from 'Corpse Bride'. Love it! Thank you for participating in BFF!

Reminds me of the song "Dead Are Dancing" by Toni Childs.
