The Antisocial Butterfly

The antisocial butterfly
wished she could be a worm again,
a fuzzy wuzzy worm again,
cocooned with covered eyes.

The antisocial butterfly
whispered to a bird,
"We both have wings;
have you learned

the why of flying

when every day and every night
we're dying?"

The bird replied,
"well -
 just to be in the sky!"

MZ--I loved how you used your white space (or in the case of your blog set-up, your black space).

When faced with such a brief life, it makes me wonder too if the joy of flight is worth the fleeting existence.

"...just to be in the sky!" Indeed. Just to be alive in the best possible way. Even if it doesn't seem all that grand. Love it.

I used to wish to bea fuzzy wuzzy worm again but I'm enjoying flying now - only low hovering at the moment. A delightful poem that I can relate to.

Bird conversation of learning to fly. Children's conversation of learning to ride the bike or roller skate. There is a personality complex of wanting to return to the womb. Not for me, too confining.
