Devotional

April is a reckoning,
a beckoning
of robins -
one to build,
one to sing,
both fat from seed I've spilled.

Kissing bees,
the lilacs list,
lips slick and plump with pollen.

Bees buzz with the promise
of honey
and of sting.

If it had not been that sting... love the use of rhyme here.

I can always appreciate a poem about the bees -- as well as birdsong. Liked the combo of sweet & sting -- & the bit of rhyme, too. Thanks for sharing.

Many of your poems have a musical quality to them and this one especially.. a beautiful thing it is of bees and robins.

I love the sounds your poetry makes... and the its ending sting, too.

'A beckoning of robins' - I love to see those little fat robins in my garden. I also love the buzz of bees but definitely not their sting. Great lines about the kissing bees having'lips slick and plump with pollen'.

A right reckoning. Glad you tallied it up so for April.

There's a hint of danger in the lush descriptions here. I really enjoyed it.
