Small

I'm so small and all
I see around me is so big.
I dig and dig and dig

for a mustard seed of faith in me
to sprout;
can't find a twig.

How am I supposed to move
that mountain
great and tall,

when I'm so small
so very small and all?

Lots of little tiny steps? This is beautiful, MZ.

You are anything but small. You are great, and while the mountains may seem greater, they can't come to you. You go to the mountain, and this demonstrates your greatness. Great poem.

Overwhelming - How DO we overcome our own self-doubt?

Mama, I feel this. Yes, I believe this is how I responded to the prompt as well! How do we find the courage to feel significant in a world so large? How do we find the Big, Magnificent in our little, tiny? I did love this prompt. Thanks for sharing. (ok..so here's what I'm hearing in my head now.."Climb Every Mountain, Ford Every Stream...." forgive me my Julie Andrews moments!)

this is so encouraging, i think the task of digging will surely not go unrewarded, we all experience doubt, in some way or another, but the fact that you keep digging by your repetitive phrase is really encouraging for a reader

much love...

This reminds me of a movie I watched recently, called Little Boy, about a little boy who had the faith of a mustard seed, enough to move a mountain, who believes with all his heart that his daddy will come home safely from WWII. Really good poem and really good movie.,

I love the way you have conveyed this 'big' thought by focusing on the small (small words, small lines, smallness). Everything is beautifully contained, with rhymes and questions and a conclusion that returns us to the beginning again.

I think the mustard seed has the strength to crumble mountains...

Ah! And a newer (and better) Dr. Seuss is born here! It is the small who make change--but finding the mustard seed is much harder than working on that mountain.
