Your poem is somewhere in my heart memory -- it seems the business of poets, mothers, women -- to handle themselves roughly while tending to others so finely. It's only in the process of writing it that I even realize my own wings. Thanks for sharing.
yeah, some of us are like that, i tended to be myself last for so long, putting children and others carefully first, but im i learned in the process to be careful of me too. and still some times i find myself slipping into that old normi really luv this succinct little writemuch love...
Sometimes we need to take care also for ourselves.. great shift in the last few lines...
Oh, isnt this the darned truth? Perfectly said, my friend.
So true. Nothing compares to the pressures and expectations we put on ourselves, and the things we endure to live up to them. These verses are so artful.
This does ring true. Be kind to yourself, MZ.:)
(you speak my mind better than I could)
Is it naughty that this turns me on? :)
So true, so true.
I wonder how many mothers this is true of? So true for me!
As Dionne Warwick sang, and Burt Bacharach (spelling?) wrote: Take it easy on yourself. This poem knocked me out at the end. Wow!

I think we are all like that. Sweetly written.
Soft and tender. I love this
Why is it we are so hard on ourselves?
That's so true. We're always hardest on our self. Husbands 2nd.
No one does the quick change like you - elegant and surprising and never done for the sake of cleverness. Yours in envious green, Mosk
Well knock it off!
We are one of the most fragile things we can hold at times - a wise, deft poem
Yowza, ain't this the truth!
Why oh why do we always treat ourselves the worst? Truth Mama Zen!
