Naughty Lola

Naughty Lola naps
like a tigress who knows
no enclosure can hold her
if she chooses to go.

No leopard can best her,
no lion contest her;
the goddess has blessed her
with stealth in her soles.

Note: Lola the tiger escaped her enclosure at my local zoo and promptly picked a fight with a leopard.  The zoo was locked down until Lola could be recaptured.  Fortunately, no one was injured (including the leopard).  As you might imagine, the tiger enclosure is undergoing extensive renovation.

I love the humour in this - safe in the knowledge that no one was hurt - i suspect Lola may well find a way out of that new enclosure..part of me thinks - Run Lola Run!

I'm nuts
over the poem,
but this sentence
rivals it
in its ability to extend
the corners
of my smile:

"As you might imagine,
the tiger enclosure is under-
going extensive renovation."

I read about this story, but I love your version better!

Oh it pleases me that none was hurt in this... I think it could be worth it to prove that a tigress can't be tied down... love it.

"No enclosure can hold her if she chooses to go". I resonate with those lines! I enjoy envisioning the panic that must have ensured till she was recaptured! I hope the zoo has adequate space for those critters.

Three cheers for Lola and her daring escape... though I am glad the tale did not end in tragedy.

Spirit and Stealth indeed - nicely captured...

I just love how the poem follows Lola and speaks of her adventure. I think she would approve of this. Probably with a wee switch of her tail, and a naughty grin.

Oh yes, and what Donna said. ;-)

You found the humor in what COULD have been (and thankfully wasn't) a tragic situation!

What Lola wants, Lola gets.

This is why I love free range zoos. They are even thinking of bringing Rhinos to South Australia so they don't get totally exterminated by poachers.

Given the size of tigers, stealth is most certainly their greatest (and most frightening) attribute.

Oh, you have turned Lola into a mythic heroine! And I think it's a song you have written her. :-)

I like the humor in this and the fact that she is one punk tiger! I hope the leopard was ok and neither were hurt!

Glad that no one was hurt and I want to cheer for Lola!

Lola is naughty implying some culpability. Loved this poem, and it put me in the mind of poor Narambe the Gorilla.
