Blood Is Thicker Than Water

Pluto's no longer a planet.
I crave your dark orbit.
Blood is thicker than water
from the moon.

We're burdened by our botany.
Seven seeds of surrender
tender
as the stigma of a bloom.

Mars and Venus
between us
dangling from a bracelet
smelted by the sun for younger skin.

Pluto's no longer a planet.
I crave your dark orbit
to circle through
my gravity
again.

What I like about this piece is how it is made up of several emphatic statements, arranged very elegantly into stanzas, yet conveying something of the prosaic still.

If only we could leap into its orbit and survive! This poem has magnetic power, and I am moved, though I am not sure to what.

The solar system... but Pluto is that precious charm you lost from a bracelet.

The temptress - herself a bracelet, with many secret charms. Lovely.

A love poem that both defies and exemplifies the void of infinite space--where every object has a physical binding to the thing it comes closest to, and an equal swing away.
