On Religion

Let sweat be your sacrament.
Tithe only dirt to bones.
Know the difference
between manna
and meat.

Be quick
to bare a breast
for suckling stars.
Wean
when the sky
cuts teeth.

See, only you write this kind of stuff. You're on such a roll, woman.

This screams at me because of my ongoing study of the meandering Israelites complaining about manna...oh, cut your teeth already, you (wee/we) babies. Loved your closing.

Yes, only you writes like this. Fantastic, and the second stanza actually lifts off the screen and takes a turn or two around the room, it is that good.

Hard to keep up with you, MomZe. Burried bones to manna to sky to the stars, with teeth and boobs left behind. Great!

This is close to the original relic, like a first fingerbone in a chapel of stone.

Awesome! My 2nd daughter cut a tooth at one month old and bit the bejesus out of my nipple. It hurt so badly, that I popped her little booty out of a visceral reaction. She never bit me again even though I breastfed her till she had a full set of teeth. LOL! xo

An admirable (and then some) combination of tight and evocative. First-rate stuff.
