Planet Fear

Here on planet fear,
if we see something,
we say something.
Here on planet fear,
our ears are open wide.

For all that we hold dear,
we throw our billions
at box knives.
"Better there than here"
while we let here rot inside.

Nothing beats a gated community to grow the fear...

Those last few lines tear at me as I want to rage at this...a perfectly penned piece MZ.

Perfect, as always and I do agree with Brudberg, gated communities do tend to plant/nourish fear. Have a great new week, MZ!!

Every political entity needs a bad guy to get the people excited and distracted. Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Muslims! Jews! Atheists! Blacks! Gays! Liberals! Oh dear oh dear oh dear....

Oh yes, nothing like a good war "over there". And yes again, the cost "here" is horrendous too.

Sometimes your poems themselves are as piercing as knives, going straight to the heart and finishing with a quick skewer! (That's meant to be a compliment, btw!)

There is a lot to this skillfully rendered, nuanced piece. So often in poetry, less is more, I think, especially in a commentary such as this. Awesome!

I often think that poets see the bigger picture better than anyone else. How telling and moving you poem it today.

Fear is the enemy we cannot see..perhaps it is not even there..which i feel runs deep in your words..

Somehow "here" is always less alluring than "there."
