False Dawn

Peace is but a false dawn
in the endless night of war.
Foxfire for forgetting -
just letting our tombstones settle before

a bugle call

sounds "add more names to the wall
and more poppies

to the fields."

This is perfection and the photo is amazing. "Peace is but a false dawn..." It certainly seems so.

I'm not sure humans ever will. There's always been a "reason" for as long as time has been.

Perfectly appropriate levels of anger and resignation. A good write for a day such as this.

Glad I saved reading your poem for today ... watching our Veteran's Day parade this morning left me with tons of thoughts, emotions. Vietnam destroyed our family.

I cannot fathom why humans cause other humans so much suffering.

The image of that bugle call have me goosebumps. Nice way to bring sound into the poem.
