Cost

If I hadn't gone here and here and here,
I would have never been there or there or there.
How could I bear

such loss?

But because I went there and there and there,
I never got here or here or here.
It's clear

there's cost

everywhere.

My slightly off kilter take on Izy's prompt at Real Toads

I actually think of this fairly often. No matter what choice you make, it means NOT choosing something else. I guess the trick is to choose wisely and realize that a person really can't have it all.

I love this poem because it reinforces something I have long believed: one always makes what one thinks is the best decision at the time. To wit, one never picks the 2nd best option. No, it is only in retrospect, do we know we have made a less than perfect choice. Big mwah! for your talent.

Always a cost, even with the most perfect of choices. But what an amazing journey it all is.

Sometimes we wonder about the path not taken, but we can never be sure what our lives would be like if we had taken a different path... not absolutely certain.

Yeah, all our choices have a cost...

I like reading this as a child's dramatic response to not being able to ride/buy everything she wants to at Disney World. :)

they say there's an infinite number of (uni)verses out there, each a variant of which road we took.

sometimes I'm not even sure there's this one, here, though... ~

Opportunity cost wonderfully poeticized MZ. Fun but also real. K.

So true. All choices come at some cost. Though I do believe that eventually we land up where we are meant to be. Nice one.
