A Love Poem Is Waiting

A love poem is waiting
on the other side of the stars,
but I haven't the heart
to hurry
through night's humid hush.

Why must we rush?
Let's just stay
awhile in the porch swing's sway
and let silence have its way
with the two of us.

I love how you decided to use the notion of waiting; that opening is simple and beautiful.

Oh, I love this! Let love be. right there swaying silently on a porch swing. So much better than all that "to the moon and back" crap.

What a great hook those opening lines are. Since most of my mental health depends on my porch swing, I adore the poem's setting, LOL. And the idea of not rushing, waiting..........very cool write.

Such wise advice for so many times - don't rush, sit in that porch swing and wait. I miss the porch swing of my youth, such a wonderful place. but, that waiting turns so romantic. Lovely poem.

Nice! If a love poem is waiting, at least it exists......and will present itself in due time! Don't you think?

Why not enjoy the sway of the porch swing..why rush indeed?

Waiting to write it, NZee. Best thing. Even though I felt it, it took a long time to say it.
The second stanza is sooo sweet. Young people I think.
