Six Days In Oklahoma

Annual Fair
(to the tune of Animal Fair)

Trump went to the annual fair.
The news and police were there.
He stirred up hate
and swore he'd make us great
with a wave of his magical hair.

The rednecks they got drunk
and cheered long and loud for Trump
till he flew away
in his private plane, saying,
"What was the name of that dump?"

Friday before last, thousands converged on the Great State Fair of Oklahoma to hear Donald Trump speak.

Killer Cocktail

"We make a killer cocktail,"
insists my sovereign state.
Then they lethal an injection
with potassium acetate.

Chloride! Chloride! Chloride!
should have read the order sent.
They're not cruel and unusual;
they're just incompetent.

Last Wednesday, Richard Glossip received a 37 day stay of execution when it was discovered that the Oklahoma Department of Corrections had procured potassium acetate, a food preservative, rather than potassium chloride, a heart stopping agent, for Glossip's lethal injection.

Wow! Wow! Wow! That is almost all that I have to say - except great rhyming. I truly enjoyed these poems. Thank you.

Not one to involve myself in the politics of other nations, I have to admit to a private shudder at the thought of Trump in the White House.

Don't get me started on capital punishment.

The best way for me to stay on a diet -- of any kind, is to read/see anything related to Trump in the White House, or any place of any importance!! Thanks for this one, MZ!!!

Spot on. someone sent me an email with a pic of trump and under that, a comedian I did not know. But the caption was: Remember when we listened to politicians and laughted at comedians? Now we laugh at politicians and listen to comedians". What a great write! Spencer is KanzenSakura

Trump is just the type of "leaders" we have had in Europe (le Pen, Farage, Orban) for quite some time. I'm scared, very very scared. Whatever has happened to intelligence?

Your Trump piece made me laugh, though Trump is NOT himself funny! And, ha, I liked what Toni just said.

Sad about the stay of execution. Seems the state has trouble doing anything right.

I didn't think Trump's hair ever waved...

These are both brilliant but a sad true state of affairs. We know one thing of beauty came it, your two poems.

Oh. My. God. About the potassium. And is downright frightening to think of people flocking to listen to Trump.

I remember the postponed execution in the news. Horror enough when they get it right."Killer Cocktail" of incompetence. End the Death penalty!!

"Annual Fair" is also a horror. The limerick rhyme and meter serves him and his fans well.

Oh wow those are amazing news stories and your words in response perfection.....idiots at the DOC...and Trump...biggest idiot. He continues to spew his hate by saying he is just telling the truth...really! Whose truth...his opinion is not the truth....He wouldn't know truth if it bit him and I wish it would. Glad he did not come here for NY State Fair in his own state where no one wants to hear from him.

These are great! The light rhyming cadence you've used here juxtaposes eerily and extremely effectively, pinned against the content of your words. Very cool!

Sad but true... in two different ways.

The lightness of the writing juxtaposes with the farcical nature of both events. I thought we had it bad in Oz but you have certainly trumped us with this.

Love these. Made me smile, though they're really both so sad. Wish you could have a blog just to report the news this way.
