Yes, perfect. Especially the "peepers meant," "star[e]s" through the branches, and the "fire" in August. I love the underbelly of passion in this.

Also, the "b[e] ra[u]nches" hidden in "branches" and the double meanings of "dishes" and "sink." Sinking into a relationship without anyone dishing about it. Maybe we're past that now. Also inside of "dishes" is "dis hes." The attack on the man is over; now all that's left is the sinking, good or bad.
