Women And The Moon

"Women believe in the moon"
                                          - Judith Wright

Is there some spiritual,
mystical,
feminine divine
connection
to that great glowing clit in the sky?
As a woman,
am I naturally
lunar aware?
No, I believe in the moon
cause I can see it right there.

For Grace's prompt at Real Toads.  Also submitted to Poetry Pantry.

I also highlighted that line as being one to spark a new poem... but you have taken your piece in such a bold direction, I could not now even think of a more original response. Excellent!

Indeed! It's there; doing things... and stuff. :-D

it's harder to believe in what is invisibile ... it takes a leap of faith ... but the moon is right there ... yet it moves tides and magically so :)

I like your objectivity about the matter. No mincing of words in your poem.

Oh, way to go, MZ. You took the line that both Kerry and I had in mind! :-P

You're a rationalist to the end!

As women we are drawn to the moon physically and spiritually! I know I am....

Both are glowing :)

Takes the mystic out of it a little but I like that. I have no special powers except to be and be grateful that I can be. Love your hardline approach.

Ha! Very clever and sharp, MZ--and bold as Kerry says and a wonderful rebelliousness--I feel someone flinging their head (and long hair) in the night! Thanks. k.

when i raise my eyes upward to view the moon ecstasy envelops me. if this be the 'clit' of the night sky then let it be so

Rosemary Nissen-Wade said...

How very rational of you – and yet, defining it as 'clit' suggests otherwise. :-)

Aha, yes!

True enough - some things are hard to buy into - the truth and rationality is the generally speaking the better investment to make

Ha! "That great glowing clit in the sky," tell it like it is!! I had to laugh. And yes, it's obvious. Just as we own half the sky, we are everywhere, and yet, like the moon, some of us are only appreciated at night... Amy
