King B

King B gone to glory,
Lucille at his side.
King B gone to glory,
Lucille at his side.
Sting in all his fingers;
honey in his slide.

We're weepin' in the hive and singin'
mournful, soft, and slow.
We're weepin' in the hive tonight
mournful, soft, and slow.
World done lost a Blues Boy - oh!
the places he did go.

For Marian's prompt at Real Toads.  I had written something different, but when I saw that B.B. King had died, I had to go there.

When I woke this morning I thought about the same.. but I still went the other way.. it's a day to play blues for sure.

Wonderful tribute.

When I wrote this morning, the skies cry for Mr King, the thunder rumbled on cue.

Oh, B.B. King is gone, so sad. I can feel his long slow honeyed slide in your poem.

What a great tribute indeed, MZ!! And, oh, yes! A definite day to play the blues! Our skies here in Portland are gray and tearful!

A beautiful soul lost. Yours is a fitting tribute.

I love what you did with the "bees" in his name. Very clever.

"…honey in his slide."

Gorgeous and so so true.

The thrill that was B. B. King is gone.

The very first concert I paid to see was Howlin' Wolf opening for B.B. King.

The music world has lost one of its finest. Your lines,
"We're weepin' in the hive ... " say it for me. Thank you.

Yes... glad you did. I feel lucky to have seen BB once (and Taj a few times, yay). Your poem is perfect.
