A Clumsy Haiku

Stars above my head.
Sharp stones scattered at my feet.
Stiff neck -oh!- stubbed toe.

For Hannah's haiku prompt at Real Toads

I'd call that one a senryu — a humorous haiku variation, involving human beings rater than nature. And a very good one it is!

You have employed the 'kiru' technique to perfection in the final line and brought us all back to earth.

I have done this many a time. I've also stepped on many piles of poop in the pasture by not looking where I am going... :)

Cackling maniacally. (I tried to write a haiku about my chickens this morning, but I just couldn't get there from here.) This has a wonderful quality of explaining everything.

Not fair to get a stubbed toe from star-gazing. Loved this, MZ.

This haiku has a stunning immediacy. Better wath my footing!
