Spring Sketch

Heart locket leaves;
a silver chain breeze
that flutters and flirts

with the hem of my shirt;
bare feet in the dirt; every cloud
is a coin in my pocket.

A sketch poem for Play It Again at Real Toads.

A coin a cloud--I hope your pockets are not empty! And yet, there is always the locket and chain to pawn if not the shirt off our backs. Sorry! Couldn't help chasing realities despite the beauty of spring's awakening in this short powerful sketch.

Every cloud is a coin in my pocket!

I adore that line (wish I had thought of it myself but your imagination is unique.)

I think you have captured a positive hope so well.. The coin is a cloud is a coin...

This just made me feel good, and I agree with Kerry that your imagination is unique.

A perfect sketch, not too much detail, but each one thoroughly and completely drawn--like those da Vinci sketches that seem to have about sixteen lines and draw an entire hand or animal as if it was alive and just moved itself onto the page.

Nice. Though I keep reading it as heart-locket leaving. Not yet!
