Bear

If I could
I'd hibernate
like a bear

feed
on my own fat
and sleep

till winter's
a melt
and a memory

in the honeyed
come-hither
of spring.

For Shay's prompt at Real Toads

I really can't wait till Spring either. The weather hasn't been too cruel this winter, but I enjoy the colorful world outside of the dreary gray sky and blank white blankets of snow.

Love your closing...use of honeyed...nice, MZ!

I'm with you on that, but alas there are bears that cannot do that, since my name means bear I feel excluded from the hibernation part.

Sometimes I feel like this is exactly what I do in winter! Except come the spring, my fat hasn't burned off!

Then you'd be MB instead of MZ.

Me, too, kiddo. Trying to do it as it is. Smiles.

Deliciously perfect.

Honeyed come hither -- luscious
fantasy. It steadies the breath.

I like the idea of sleeping through winter and waking up thin in spring.

Your haiku-like tercets are the perfect form for the brevity of your style.

One of the best descriptions of spring I've read in awhile. If only we could crawl in that cave and come out three months later skinny, hungry and ready to roll.

I think many of us would like to winter this way.

I wonder if winter dreams have some level of hibernation to them. Clawing at one's insides to get to the honey. Nice.
