See Mom Run

Run your hose.
Run to the bank.
Runny nosed kid.
Run over the sink.
Run out of coffee.
Run out of gas.
Run, Mama, run!
Fast!  Fast!

Run yourself ragged.
Run yourself raw.
Run one to school.
Run one to the mall.
Run yourself down.
Run yourself dry.
Wave to yourself
as you run by.

I felt myself inching forward in my chair as I read, legs twitching! Final two lines are perfect.

Have you been watching me?

Those last two lines hit that sensitive spot between exhaustion and desperation.

Love the energy here.. Both joy and desperation and then finally that last two lines who tell another possible story.

I hope you run into yourself when you return...

Ha. Ouch! Very clever, but don't run out of steam. You know, I think these holidays especially get too big and crazy--I was thinking about it with your tree. I am afraid I am of the ilk that waits till the end to get a tree and then keeps it up late, and I've just kind of given up on many presents--I say that, and of course, it's not completely true, and I'm sure it can't be done with a young child--but it seems such a crazy amount of effort we put on ourselves--Run a hot bath! Thanks, MZ. Very clever and wonderful as always. k.

Catch that last one and don't let her pass by! Not the whole life, anyway. I suspect part of your calling is to write from inside the mixed blessings--but blessings they are, especially to those of us who don't have the experience. Fun poem.
