My Mother's Voice

In my mother's voice, I tell her
of the rabbit and the rain storm;
of God and green things growing;
of the cloud and thunder song.

And in my voice she answers,
"I''m glad for grass and garden,
but the sky is surely shattered;
must it last so long?"

Your daughter's vooice as she comments on the sky is poetic. And on down the generations...

There is that undefinable moment when we hear ourselves speaking in the voice of our mother. I have never read that moment described so well as in this poem.

Have you ever tried the "two voice poem" format? This was similar in voice but not in format.

As usual, you do "short" so well...
