The Unkissed Frog

Sketch by Chelsea Bednar

Today, you let me go
without a kiss.
Tonight, you'll shrug at monsters
beneath the bed.
Tomorrow, you'll pass dandelions
without a wish,
and I'll be wishing
for you instead.

Short, sweet, honest emotion done in shades of blue.

I like the way you have included the passage of time here... Not all wishes come true, not all frogs conceal a prince.

How one relates and give way in times of love and endearment! May not even anticipate it'll be a prince! Wonderful write MZ!

So fleeting this time we have with them...my oldest is seven and everyday it seems I see more and more of the "baby" in him disappearing...which is heartbreaking but then in the same breath more and more we're friends and he makes me laugh and nod in wonder.

Beautiful poem, Mama Zen and congratulations on your publication!! ♥

OH…. this I so have lived and it never, ever gets any easier. My youngest son, 6, is a kissy and huggy little man and I am milking every second I can. This is a very precious poem… . Sorry to be responding to this prompt so late - I truly thank you for participating!
