Night Bird

Night bird
with leaden wings
sings me a lullaby.
In minor key, she greys my dreams
away.

So beautiful - I could picture the scene, hear the song and feel the emotion.

The original images are terrific. Grey dreams, leaden wings. Excellent.

Sounds like night bird's trying but not quite succeeding in bringing sleep.

How'd you get so many shades of gray into such a short poem? I want to believe if I found the right thesaurus, I could write like this, but who am I kidding?

The minor key and the "greys away" are striking. The lead. Was this a "grey" prompt? If so, you nailed it, ha ha, that's another grey! Good for you, Mama... Amy

This melancholy warbler as the tincturer of moods. Turning blues to grey.

That nightbird is not your friend.

greys your dreams… that can't be a good thing. I think that is a lullaby you need not hear!
