God Knows

God knows it's time to declutter.
The refrigerator is covered,
and every time she opens the door
an icon or two flutters to the floor.

She needs another fingerpaint
like she needs an apple tree.
But, what kind of mother would she be
if she threw these offerings away?

With a sigh, she bends to the tile
and resurrects
another saint.

HITH did you know I was vacillating over this exact chore? (along with lots of other decluttering that need to be done).

In my house, I think a few saints are going to die today...

I have the cure. I framed the best of my kids/grandkids paintings and hung them in my 'hall of fame'. They're so proud when they see their art on my walls.

(My fav was drawn by my grandson when he was about 8...he's not almost 18... It's a witch(?) wearing a cape covered in stars wearing a pointed hat and holding a crystal ball and says, "I love my Grammy." I have NO idea he thought I was a witch, but I love the picture to death. LMAO!! (I think it's my huge herb garden and home cures....either that or me dancing under the full moon....Ha!) Superb write!!! xo

Sweet and wholesome...
I was very diligent about keeping the first art works and then it all got a bit out of hand. I think the framing the best of is a good idea. I have my older son's interpretation of Van Gogh's Starry Night on my writing desk (done when he was 6) and I still think it's pretty amazing.
