February

The snow seems sad to be melting.
It's loose and limp as an old woman's skin,
and it's secrets
are a wet whisper
in the palm of my glove.

February is
an inconstant love -
uneven in its light.
But steadfast
is the suffocation sky.

A sketch (sketchy?) poem for Claudia's prompt at dVerse.  Also submitted to Poetry Pantry.

The comparison to an old woman's skin is excellent, and then you kind of ease the reader into thoughts of snow and inconstancy, before that iron ending. Love it.

There is always something so unexpected in your poems that makes me catch my breath - this time it is the "suffocation sky". Wowzers, kiddo! Fantastic!

very much enjoyed your visuals... and February is an unwanted guest that must be endured and cannot leave soon enough.

Being an old woman, I winced at the simile comparing the snow to an old woman's loose, limp skin.

Yikes. Sad but true.

A very different February from ours in Australia. You paint it well.

An old woman's skin... This is an excellent image that confirms, again, how nature repeats a few patterns in so many ways. And giving the snow emotion? Clever!
