Wannabe Alice

Dearest Wonderland,
please help me find my way.
I've stretched my skin
getting big and then
getting small again each day.
"Off with my head!"
I am most inclined to say.

But, since the headless
have a poor sense of direction,
I'm begging you
to give my compass some correction.
With gratitude
and my undying affection

sincerely,

Wannabe Alice

Mama Zen--Only you could write about a character like this...

ha. yes, trying to fit whether big or small...i'd rather be off with my head....and i think i could use a little direction...if i could find my wonderland again...

haha...you know...sometimes the headless have a better sense of direction cause they're forced to listen to their heart...which is a very good compass...just saying...smiles

I have no sense of direction, I am hopeless...but then there's always something to photograph, although I like yours very much

Reading the comments and wondering if Brian and Claudia were separated at birth or something. They laugh alike, they walk alike, At times they even talk alike -- You can lose your mind, When cousins are two of a kind!

Don't lose your head, MZ. It is a singular and remarkable place.

Oh what a treat!
Replacing Alice with a headless chicken can bring nothing but good :-)

Loved this, Mama Zen. :)

Found pleasant whimsy here. Let us all escape...to wonderland.
Bawk bawk bawk that would change the tone.

Hey MZ--very clever--I especially liked the feeling of being stretched thin--only you use "then" which does double-duty (in your very succinct way.) And we all definitely have an understanding of running around with head chopped off (and of being the chopper.)

I think there may be a typo in second verse--"since" used twice,--maybe second time "sense" - or maybe you mean "since"--I don't know I can see it both ways--as the since of direction could mean a loss of time as well as place - or at least a confusion. Thanks. k.

I love the idea of the 'wannabe Alice' and the creativity of your vision, MZ!

Lovely witty reinterpretation of Alice - I could almost see the postmodern film remake of it.

perhaps if the rabbit had a compass instead of a watch he would have got there sooner =)
