Ragweed

I keep a ragweed garden
in a window box
just to hear my neighbor
sneeze and cough.
He has a cat
that taunts my dogs
by strolling atop the fence.

And when my poor dogs
do the natural thing
and bark
and I'm accused of "poor stewarding,"
I just offer a handshake,
a tissue,
a "bless you,"
and water my weeds again!

I've always been of the side of "good fences" when it comes to neighbours..Your alternative barrier of ragweed is an excellent solution. I love where you went with this prompt, MZ.

Hi there! Wasn't sure where "rag wood" would lead. This wry, rhythmic verse is so inventive! :)

Laffin--you have so given me an idea for revenge here. (I have a neighbor whose close resemblance to Homer Simpson in all things is driving me crazy.)I like the elegant way you lay it out here, too.

Dogs bark, cats give dander, the rain falls on all outside our windows... as we learn to live together in our shared space... I thoroughly enjoyed this and its clever theme! Beware of witching night ye late October beggars asking for a penny for the ole Guy... Mama Zen now I know why the pumpkins grin...

Ooh, yes, ragweed. Or breathe peanut butter on him.
Great one again, MZ, and I love that it made me laugh.

This made me laugh, MZ. I am allergic to ragweed AND cats....but I will take a dog (or three) barking any day. Smiles.
