Massa

Massa got the science.
Massa got the seed.
Massa owns a White House
and do anything he please.

We may not be shackled
or tethered to a plow,
but Massa holds the harvest
and we all field niggers now.

Monsanto: where do I even start?  Monsanto has such a stranglehold on the seed market that other options are becoming more and more difficult to find.  Monsanto genetically modifies seeds and has successfully lobbied to prevent genetically modified food from being labeled as such.  If that's not enough, Congress recently passed the Monsanto Protection Act (the actual law is buried in another bill) that prevents you from suing Monsanto if their genetically modified crops cause you any injury such as . . .

growing giant tumors like these rats did after a diet of genetically modified corn.

For Real Toads (where Kerry will probably never risk getting a rant from me again!).

Oh, this makes me ill. I have paying a lot of attention to genetically modified crops lately. What is this world coming to?

Monsanto has been kicked out of almost every country in Europe, but they own us here--and people wonder why our children have so many disorders that used to be rare, why we're wildly obese, insulin resistant, diabetic, etc etc ad nauseum. A perfect topic for this rant, and a very well-executed poem.

Damn Monsanto ... damn them to hell.

Chilling rant. I feel so helpless about such things. Except to sign online petitions and keep voting for democrats. *snork*

I have a friend - an organic farmer in Wisconsin who has a huge gripe with Monsanto. And rightfully so! HOW can this be? Truly crazy. Slaves to Monsanto - a very scary thought. (Shivers)

One of my main concerns about the Twenty First Century is how the corporate giants are bullying their way into autocratic leadership of the free market. This issue is a case in point - and your poem a stark reminder that every man in the street is a slave to whoever holds the economic whips and shackles.

oh the pain they suffer, filthy bastards,(not talking about the mice) they'll get their hell no mistake about it......and they, politicians, don't make decisions they are puppets to FILTHY rich companies Govts are puppets and it's on their head that they allow scum dirty horrifying companies to do the dirty work. I'm ranting.....I am just so so so angry....

Europe has wised up to them as the US buries its head. My son-in-law in the rainforest of Trinidad is collecting seeds and urging others to do so. We can do this as well by buying organic and drying and saving the seeds. Otherwise Monsanto will own it all. Good rant.

A perfect poem about a monster. I do my part by only buying heirloom seeds (which are harder and harder to find) and saving my own seeds. I worry for my grandchildren's future...

Boy is that terrifying and yet we all just accept it, send your poem to every paper and media system, people need to know! !!

Wow, I never really thought of it like that but that is right on. We need to be deliberate in our choices, freedom is a responsibility and we obviously need to take it or it will be taken from us.

Monsanto IS a giant tumor on the corporate ass of America. Unfortunately, it has also spread to the heart(land) by contaminating organic farms with aerial fertilization. Congress will cover them at all costs because Monsanto fills their fundraising coffers.

The End

Amazing, precision drilling of a corporate menace. And I do mean drilling them a new one. Amy

A fabulous MZ write once again, and this one sharp and to the point, with photos to prove it.
I have heard that farmers who don't use genetically modified seed have had their fields pollinated by the Monsanto stuff from neighboring field and then...get this...have been sued by Monsanto for stealing their product. Adding insult to injury...adding crime to insanity...however we want to put it, it's happening in North America.

Thanks for addressing this important - and life-threatening - topic. Those photos are horrible and should be EVERYWHERE, to wake people up to the dangers of genetically modified "food".

Your words penetrate. I definitely get it now, though I was deaf before this poem. and pic. Your title and pics separate this issue from other things your words might equally apply to. Thank you, thank you!

Excellent and timely blog post- love the poem!!
GMO's and Montsanto are totally evil...and now there are laws stuck inside an unrelated bill to "protect" Montsanto from us the USA consumer? Why do you think that the European communities and Japan have not allowed GMO's into their countries? These countries now will not allow any USA food products to be imported into their countries. Do you blame them? It's disgusting. This is why there are so many more illnesses and cancers
not to mention the epidemic of obesity (SP?) that is rampant in this country. You cannot tell me that it isn't the fast food and additives/hormones/antibiotics added to our food. Watch the documentary "Food INC" and the
film "Super Size Me". You will never look at our food source the same. It's really scary.
