She had him
harder than a noose knot apple
before they ever left the diner.
Howling like a hollow tree
when the wicked wind blows right.
She might have been
shallow as a shyster's grave,
but she was deep enough for drowning
such a weak man in her waters
while she stayed safe and dry.

She definitely knows how to use her feminine wiles! He seems oblivious to what he is in for.
Ah, yes!! She knows how to play the game!
You go, girl! That's him snared, then!
Sounds as if they deserve each other.Weak coupled with the shallow!
She got 'im! Great piece--just snappy! Loved that!

*snork!*
I like the hollow tree and the "shallow as a shyster's grave".
You put a little original sin into commonplace darkness--I like what Shay liked, plus 'she was deep enough for drowning'
Mama Zen...
Harder than a WHAT?
It must be an Okie similie
Whatever.... It was perfect!
This whole story was perfect!
It was well worth the wait for your sparadic but always enjoyable Gems.
Loved your 55

Excellent, MZ.
... here's to the strong women of the world!!!
Wickedly good and goodly wicked.
Love it!!
Lovely, and the Magpie image is perfect for a 55er. What I loved best: "such a weak man in her waters while she stayed safe and dry."
You've done this really well.
Oh I don't know how I missed this! great job!Howling like a hollow
tree ! thanks.
Your mind works stupendously. This is quite a non-romantic romance. What a unique story.
Sizzlin' HOT as usual! All that packed into 55?
Some very neat metaphors and similes bouncing around in this depiction of love-as-lasso.
"she was deep enough for drowning" what an awesome line. I think that I want to be her for a while...
