Gentle Reader

Don't leave me stuck here
tonight -
crushed against your bookmark
and buried 'neath the blanket
of the facing page.

Don't set me aside.
I have words still left to whisper
to the tender tip of your finger
as you keep your place.

For Kerry's challenge at Real Toads

Oh, this is excellent.. Our words should shout, nudge, demand from the discarded page: Come on.. read just one more!

Terrific! I never would have considered using the book itself as voice. You are one clever gal!

Loved the voice of the book. What a creative thought.

"I have words still left to whisper

Words are as alive as people. This is delicate, inviting, sensual, and hungry. I love the idea of the book being ravenous for the reader and not just the other way around.

Aren't we so fortunate to have books with words left to whisper. I like thinking of the book holding affection for us its reader.

This would be marvelous--framed--in a bookstore or library.

You could always present it as gift to a local spot you love...

This is such a BRILLIANT response to the prompt - the very words in the book speaking to the reader. Awesome!

And I do so try to oblige... I often doze off and my husband is the one who shuts my book and turns off the light. I love this poem.

I have just been reading these poems and they are all amazing Mama Zen..I think if you put them to music you would have a hit. It is wonderful what you can do with just a few words.
