Grinding Stones

Meet me at miscreant
midnight.
Cradle me
like a character flaw.
Bear witness
to my weakness
and tell no one

of grinding stones
and rot.

I love miscreant and midnight together, and the secret hush of the pause before the last two lines.
Excellent!

Meet me

Simple commands, brilliantly set in alliteration, meter, and distance from "grinding stones
and rot."

Don't think I stole your "midnight." I got it from Kellie's midnight-swamp prompt. :)

I love this:
"Cradle me
like a character flaw."

That is one thing we can never really let go of, even if we say we're going to and absolutely mean it. Character flaws are with us for life, at least in our deepest places.

I too love "miscreant midnight" and
"Cradle me like a character flaw," and the use of white space before the last two lines.

Nine lines...twenty-five words. I am regularly amazed with what you do with so little...

As always--you blow me away with how much you can do in a few lines. Miscreant midnight, indeed.
