If woman is to be improved,
I fear her spine must be removed,
for all our efforts to cleanse her thought,
regrettably, have come to naught.
She clings to control of reproduction
and resists her true and natural function.
She remains unbowed after all this time,
so it's clear we must remove her spine.

Amen, sister. If that picture didn't say it all, your poem certainly licked out the bowl. (They seem to be able to do a lot with brainwashing without actually physically slicing it out, though. This makes the yearly childbearing directive more effective.)
Amen, amen!!! It does indeed say it all! I adore my children, but I don't miss being married. Halleluiah!
i didn't see it, but it does look like a spine!!
and then your words, yes, men are...i think they're just jealous
sonnet 36
Excellent ironic poem, Mama Zen. I guess the women in the audience were handpicked brainwashed childbearers? What conclusions did the Panel of Goons come to?
I agree with thee, most men are pretty spinless already.
Wonderful verse, and I couldn't agree more.

I meant to mention that the infamous All-Male Panel on Birth Control does say it all and how far we women "haven't" come after all!
There is huge part of me that is just so spitting mad about the patriarchal BS that masquerades as societal norms that I could spit nails--Guess that is what your poem brought up for me--yikes where is my spineless self?
Wow! Powerful! Loved it!
haha... touche, MZ!
So very apropos...good one...
Do you mind if I print up your poem and shove it up a particularly large orifice of Rush Limbaugh's?
Fierce and to the point. Wonderful.
Power to the women!!! This is an amazing piece of poetry!!!
Many men just have no clue how a woman's mind works. No wonder back in the 60's they demanded equality. They're still have to demand rights, let alone equality!
Bravo!!
True this...Thanks for the strong voice ~
This is what you get when the weaker sex forms committees.
Control *this* motherfuckers.
Oh, sheer brilliance - you have nailed misogyny on the proverbial head!
That should shock someone awake!
Excellent!!!!!
Awesome! Grinning all the way through. I'll put it up on our cork board with my husband's copy of 1955 Housekeeping Monthly's "the good wife guide." Seriously, he put it there.
oh i think if you link enough of those spines together you might just see something change....
Both of those photos + the poem = the power of poetry and art.
Excellent! Thank the non-existent god they haven't removed your tongue! :-))
Another wonderful poem. I'm glad that I clicked on your photo in my comment section. So glad to "meet" you here. Your writing is great!
brilliant - all round - i did an huurah! at the end; V.vool pic choice too :)
Whoa! Poetry as politico-social commentary! This is cutting edge, and razor sharp.
I'm currently reading a book about anti-feminism so this fits right in with the day's reading :)
Ha! Seems a likely tale.

I am so happy to see you here fighting the good fight with such panache. You've got wicked style.
Sarcasm used to its highest purpose. :)
Sarcasm used to its highest purpose. :)
your word play in this is incredible....!
And what have they learned?
Strong piece MZ. Removal of spine, such the perfect metaphor/image here for both its physical and alluded natures. Terrific piece. Thanks
you go, girl!
♥
I liked the rhyming.
LOL... so much truth, nice piece
Nice job of mixing politics with artistry. Not so easy to do and have it turn out so punchy and effective.
Trust you to swoop on the irony and wrap it up in succinct (and rhyming) verse.
The world is still a crazy ol' place, run by crazy old men.
Great. Think I must share this with my dad. ha ha!
Oooof- thanks for kicking me right in the balls! Ha ha- this was great- sarcastic, dry, witty, but a socially intelligent commentary that highlights the strength of women- as you say- what is the only thing left to do- remove their spines! But then again- what do I know- me and my silly penis ha ha. This was short, sharp and GREAT
My thoughts (not as well said) exactly! Razor sharp and tongue like a knife. The pen shall be mightier in your hand than any sword!
Hear, hear!! Will they ever get it (of course not)?
To this poem, I bow my head and say "Amen!"
Oooh, a great protest poem!!!
Wow I have read many interpretations of this photo and yours blows me away. Great. B
