We grew despite the floods.
We grew despite the drought.
We grew in times of plenty
and in the times we did without.
We grew despite the soil,
rocky at its best.
Weeds amongst the flowers,
but we bloomed nonetheless.

Tough women...I like this MZ ~
Are you going to show her what you wrote? I bet she would love to read it.
Terrific as always, MZ!

Some of my favorite flowers are weeds--this is almost like a song I ought to remember.
One perfect blossom: one perfect poem.
I like it. Full of hope and determination.
Wonderful. A little gem of a poem.
Beautiful !
Not quite the roseate duo of "Sisters" from "White Christmas" but more enduring. Blood is blood through love and mud. Enduring through whatever, even what we can't. Nice. - Brendan
Wow. Struggles, endurance, companionship - the essence of your poem. I loved it. :)
ha nice...love the survival spirit in this..
Beautiful and sad expression of female perseverance, pressing on and pressing together.

The special kinship of sisters. Lovely.
Terrific use of repetition in the first stanza and the departure from in the last three lines. we bloomed nonetheless- Amazing how you captured the feeling of overcoming diversity in only two stanzas, but you did do just that, and a fantastic job at that. Thanks
Like a lovely song. K.
Really enjoyed this, reminded me of my sister!
