Raven's Rain

A phoenix drowned in
raven's rain.  Ashes dirty
the water.  Still, I

drink, breathe the soot soaked
air, and wait to be split wide
by dark feathered wings.

Just a dark cocoon before you spread your gorgeous wings and fly away?

I stole that from Joni Mitchell, but if anyone I know is harboring secret dark feathers it would be you, Ms. Poet.

A grand jolt in that final line.

A drowned phoenix is certainly a starling image, considering that the phoenix is supposed to rise from the ashes and live again!

Can you see a phoenix here or here?

your haiku(s) are terrific! Great imagery with this one, almost like you're morphing into a bird...

Enjoyed these...but aren't phoenixes supposed to rise from the ashes new...your idea of split wings too is appealing.
